During a perineoplasty, scar tissue or loose skin around the opening is removed and then repaired to raise the perineum by re-approximating the muscles of the perineal body.
This produces a normal approximation of the lax vaginal opening and elevates and tightens the thin muscles of the opening for visual pleasure. It also reduces the likelihood of slipping out during intercourse and helps to reduce vaginal flatus, or passing air from the vagina.
A perineoplasty is an in office day procedure and is also aided by the 980 nm laser as in LVR®
